The DRP 7.0 is designed for industrial applications and especially to satisfy the operation and protection requirements for the chemical and mining electrolysis industries beyond all applications requiring high direct current.
Dedicated to
Customers looking for a state-of-the-art technology for rectifiers regulation. Suitable for brand new rectifiers and retrofit of old units.
Innovative and intuitive
The DRP 7.0 has been designed by FRIEM’s R&D engineers to improve the overall functionalities of the rectifier.
Continuous improvement
The numbering 7.0 stands for the seventh FRIEM’s digital regulator and for the 70 years of the company activity.
Specific for rectifiers
A single control board manages bridge or double star converter topologies with thyristor or diode with saturable reactors.
User-friendly interface
Simple to be used and easy to set up, with a dedicated HMI graphic 4.3” touch screen.
Suitable for revamping
Thanks to a retrofit kit designed for a fast and simple replacement of the old regulator.
Bespoke management software
A dedicated SW tool (MS Windows platform) allows remote support, assistance and firmware upgrade.
IoT connectivity
All the measures can be easily shared over Ethernet/Internet, and stored for data visualization/analysis.
Advanced control loop management
Cascade structure (Voltage/Current/Angle Loop) with reference/limitation signals always accessible and adjustable at runtime.
Innovative grid synchronization
PLL algorithm for precise grid angle detection also in presence of voltage harmonics.
Smart feedback fault management
with instantaneous switch to a secondary feedback signal or trip with controlled angle ramp down.

New features to improve the performances of your rectifiers

To operate
with latest generation of electrolysers in Chlor-Alkali and Hydrogen plants:
- High stability and accuracy 0.1% full scale
- High speed for polarization rectifiers
To revamp
and upgrade high current rectifiers equipped with obsolete digital regulators:
- DRP 7.0 is fully interchangeable with the previous digital regulators DRP-6T
- DRP 7.0 is fully compatible with all other Brands of rectifiers
To satisfy
the operation and protection requirements in metal refining and electrowinning plants
- Fast reaction and response time 1/6 of the period
- Different customizable functions and safety features
To comply
with heavy industrial conditions typical of high current plants such as aluminium smelters, graphitization furnaces and DC arc furnaces:
- Highest immunity against electromagnetic fields
- Coating and finishing to protect the board from the surrounding corrosive and dusty environment
Comparison between technologies

- Response time: min 1 – max 2 periods
- Phases regulation: Common for the three phases
- Regulator accuracy: 1% of full scale
- Loop regulation: One closed loop current regulator. One closed loop voltage regulator
- Reference Setpoint: DC Current setpoint. DC Voltage setpoint
- Response time: 1/6 of the period
- Phases regulation: Independent for each phase
- Regulator accuracy: 0.1% of full scale
- Loop regulation: Two independent closed loop current regulators and one closed loop voltage regulator, with angle limitation. Double star configuration managed by a single control board is possible.
- Reference Setpoint: DC Current setpoint. DC Voltage setpoint. Firing angle setpoint
- Response time: 12x
- Phases regulation: 3x
- Regulator accuracy: 10x
- Loop regulation: 3x
Astonishing technical performances thanks to a continuous improvement concept
Flexible
The new DRP 7.0 has a very flexible architecture in all its functions. It can be customized to fit the most demanding processes in terms of speed and stability of DC current and voltage, and fine-tuned during the lifecycle of the plants.
Easy to upgrade
The DRP 7.0 is equipped with spare hardware and software inputs and outputs, beyond a customizable firmware structure, thus it can be upgraded with new functions without changing the hardware.
